(More customer reviews)I purchased the S-650 in May 2009 and have been using it regularly. The grill is heavy duty, with very thick stainless steel grates. The side burner has plenty of heat to sear and can be controlled for a sauté. Each burner has its own ignition and the controls work well. There are a total of nine controls (6 grill burners, and 1 each for the smoker box, rotisserie and side burner. The grill came with handle lights but I have not needed to use them. I have also not used the rotisserie yet.
I use mostly 3 or 4 burners when cooking for the family. Because of the number of burners and its size I find that I am using propane tanks faster than my previous Weber which had only 4 burners. The number of burners makes the grill flexible to grill on one end and cook food with less heat requirements on the other. For example, I grilled lobster tails while making steamed clams in a pan at the same time.
A couple things to note on the construction; it is very heavy more than 200 pounds and required 2 strong people to get it out of the packaging. Three would be better. Assembly took about an hour and consisted or installing the drip pan, grates, side shelves which include the burner and flip up rotisserie motor. Installing the handle lights took more time than I thought to ensure the alignment of the parts were correct when finished.
The smoker box is nice but I find I need to use the burner at the opposite end of the grill to get a even temperature in the grill. The box is stainless steel as well. The side panels are painted steel not stainless. The doors, hood and shelves are stainless. The drip pan removes easily for cleaning; the drippings flow into removable aluminum pans,
I gave it 4 stars not 5 because the bottom of the unit collects water when uncovered. This is not a big problem because I cover the grill when not in use but it is inconvenient when using it and it decides to rain.
My unit arrived with discoloration on the burner cover. Contacted customer servers and they shipped a replacement free of charge. Also instructed me on how to align the front doors which were off slightly.
In summary;
Pros: Very large capacity
lots of flexibility, nice looking, seems well constructed.
Has 6 tool hooks
Good customer service.
Rolls easily
Cons:Need a cover to stop rain from collecting in the bottom and drip pan
