This Grill Starter has several design weaknesses compared to the Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter.
1. The Weber has TWO handles for safe handling, which can improve control when dumping a full bin of red-hot coals onto your grill's coal rack. The Outset has only the one handle, consequently it's not as easy to control when dumping the coals.
2. The heat shield on the Outset is pretty small. My Fluke infrared thermometer says red-hot coals are around 900 degrees Fahrenheit, and that extreme heat radiates to your wrists and arms when using this thing. The Weber heat shield is huge by comparison, providing more protection.
3. The Outset has NO air holes around the middle where the coals are sitting. I've not tested them side-by-side, but the Weber seems to do a better job of heating the coals.
Also, the Weber holds up to enough briquettes for a 22-1/2-inch kettle grill, while the Outset only has a 5 pound capacity.
Summary:
While the Outset model works OK, the Weber 7416 is only a few dollars more, is safer, works better, and holds more.
